Windows 95 "Beta - Release" boot screen - Real?

Post by DiskingRound »

I found this picture off a video of all the windows startup and shutdown sounds:

Is this boot screen real? If so, where does it appear? I haven't seen it in any non-English 347 I saw screenshots of.

O RLY?

Please get your facts straight.

Also, judging by the bootscreen, build 708 is equal to 33X range (and 405).

multiple people mentioned the exact build which sports this bootscreen yet some people still reply saying it’s fake 8-)

For the love of god, install build 708 and see for yourself. Really people, start reading damn topics before you post...

Never mind then... Yes, it's real. I did actually go through the trouble of installing it, but unfortunately I did not remember to set the BIOS date... My OG post will be deleted.

Here's a higher-quality version of it.

Not really. It's just a beta in terms of translation. Code-wise, it's probably equal to the 950 r-? builds (if not the RTM) already.

By the bootscreen alone, you are correct. One can easily mistake it for a FBR build.

Didn't far-east betas lag behind English ones in terms of build numbers?

That's very true. Case in point:

Build 950 r-6 (English) was compiled on 11th July 1995.
Build 708 (TC) was compiled on 8th August 1995, IIRC.

Earlier, they did not always lag in terms of build numbers. Compare builds 224 and 225 for instance.
