About This Item

Harpers, 1896-1907. Very Good to VG+/No DJ - as issued. 5 Volume Nautical Fiction with matching bindings, Various dates from 1896 to 1907 Harper and Brothers Publishers New York and London. All 5 volumes are Very Good to VG+. Just a touch of shelf/edge wear to green cloth boards with embossed spines featuring waves and gold spine panels with green titles - corners sharp. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. Bindings are solid and most volumes look and feel like they were hardly read at all. All volumes have a nautical theme or background. Volumes are: #1) The Lost Continent by Cutliffe Hyne, 1900 Harper and Brothers Publishers New York and London, 353 pages. Only flaw is this volume has some bubbling of the cloth to the front panel. (Charles John Cutcliffe Wright Hyne (11 May 1866 – 10 March 1944) was an English novelist who was also known by the pen name Weatherby Chesney. He is perhaps best remembered as the author of The Lost Continent: The Story of Atlantis. He is also remembered for his Captain Kettle stories and for The Recipe for Diamonds). #2) To The Credit Of The Sea by Lawrence Mott, 1907 Harper and Brothers Publishers New York and London 296 pages. Only flaw is a tiny closed tear to the top of the spine. (Jordan Lawrence Mott IV (1881–1931), often referred to as Jordan Lawrence Mott III and better known as Lawrence Mott, was an American novelist and writer on the outdoor life). #3) Marjorie by Justin Huntley McCarthy, 1903 Harper and Brothers Publishers New York and London 292 pages. (Justin Huntly McCarthy (1859 – 20 March 1936)[1] was an Irish author, historian, and nationalist politician. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) from 1884 to 1892, taking his seat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom). #4) Down To The Sea By Morgan Robertson, 1905 Harper and Brothers Publishers New York and London 312 pages and #5) Land Ho! also by Morgan Robertson, 1896-1905 Harper and Brothers Publishers New York and London 322 pages. This last volume are all short stories. (Morgan Andrew Robertson (September 30, 1861 – March 24, 1915) was an American author of short stories and novels, and the self-proclaimed inventor of the periscope). A superb set that will delight readers for another century. LOC SSS-26
