David Boon played his best knock in test cricket against the trans-Tasman rivals, New Zealand in 1989 at Perth. The Australian captain Allan Border lost the toss and was invited to bat first by the Kiwis. David Boon opened the innings with Mark Taylor and stood strong at the crease for a long spell. Taylor was dismissed quickly but Boon built partnerships with Tom Moody and Allan Border to progress the Australian innings.  He ended up with his career-best figures and smashed the only double century of his career.

An elite unbeaten knock from David Boon that would list as one of the best centuries scored by an Australian batter against their arch-rivals England. The right-handed opener displayed his batting skills and played a supreme innings in Sydney which helped the Australian team to manage a draw from a trailing position. In the first innings, Australia got bundled out for a low total which resulted in a follow-on imposed by England. David Boon came to the rescue in the second innings and salvaged a draw for his team with a brilliant batting effort.

A century at the home of cricket, Lord’s, is a special milestone for any batter in his career and David Boon reached this milestone in 1993 when scored an unbeaten 164 runs against England in the first innings of the match to guide Australia to a huge total of 632 runs. This first innings performance was enough for the Kangaroos to overcome the English challenge as they won the match by an innings and 62 runs in the end.
