I Tried The New Lucky Me! Pancit Canton And Got Confused

    It is a well-known fact that everyone LOOOOOOOOVES instant pancit canton. One of the biggest purveyors of said meal is Lucky Me!

    Everyone was fine, peacefully living their lives with their questionably ~nutritious~ merienda. UNTIL LUCKY ME! DECIDED TO OVERHAUL THEIR PANCIT CANTON.

    The noodles are now flat and there's more of it (noted by the big "BIG" on the front). The taste, however, remained "the same." Or so they said.

    Naturally, everyone was SHOOK.

    Gusto nyo ba talaga ng unpopular opinion? Eto na: Masarap yung bagong pancit canton. Less prone maovercook yung noodles kaya better texture

    So, as an instant pancit canton enthusiast and as someone who lived off of it through college, I took the privilege of tasting the new Lucky Me! Pancit Canton to finally end all of this.

    I fucking love the older version, but I'll try to do this without judgement or whatever. I'm scared, as you can probably tell from the shaky selfie and the fake smile.

    I looked at the back of the packaging and it's not only the noodles that are new BUT ALSO the cooking instructions.

    So instead of draining the water after boiling the noodles, you're supposed to leave it and mix the seasoning altogether. WHAT THE FUCK??????? HAS IT ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY BECAUSE I DON'T AND I CAN'T.

    I was kind of skeptical at first but I followed it anyway because, what the heck, change has come, so might as well, right? This is what it looked like:

    Looks good, eh? DO NOT BE DECEIVED. Also, pardon my egg. (There's a sentence I never thought I'd say.)

    My first impression: it was bland and kinda soggy and I'm pretty sure it's because of the way it was cooked. The fact that I didn't drain the water made all the difference.

    My mom said she cooked it once using THE OLD method (aka the BEST way to cook pancit canton), and loved it. A+. Amazing. 10/10 would recommend. Now, she tried the one I cooked using the newly recommended and "better" method, and she wasn't impressed. Y U DO DIS, LUCKY ME!????? Y U MISLEAD US???

    This is not how I remember how Lucky Me! pancit canton tasted like. This one tastes like..... nothing.

    Yes, yes, I eat instant pancit canton with chopsticks because I feel it tastes better that way. It didn't, however, work its magic in this case. My mom was watching me while doing the taste test and at one point she burst out laughing. When I asked why, she said, "It looks like you're looking for the taste."

    But then I tried it with pan de sal, and loved it!

    The pan de sal, I mean. Still had mixed feelings about the pancit canton.

    Overall, I couldn't say I hate it because I think it all depends on how it's cooked.

    I wouldn't eat the one cooked using the recommended procedure on the packaging again, but I might try it once more if it's cooked using the ~CLASSIC~ procedure. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    And I understand now why a lot of people have different opinions about this. So let us know in the comments if you've tried the latter and loved it so we can end this madness once and for all!
