Cairns is surrounded by a natural wonderland, the world-famous Great Barrier Reef on one side and equally beautiful rainforest hinterland on the other. Tear yourself away from the water and be rewarded with one of the world’s most beautiful rainforest experiences. Hop in a six-person gondola and take a skyrail ride with breath-taking views over the rainforest as you glide just metres above the canopy. Explore Kuranda ‘the village in the rainforest’ with arts and craft market stalls shaded by giant fig trees. Then, board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for a spectacular return through rainforest-clad mountains, through tunnels and over bridges with panoramic views of the Coral Sea and Cairns.
The train is equipped with bench-style seating and is not air-conditioned. Order of sights may vary on the day. Please wear comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and jacket, plenty of biodegradable reef-friendly sunscreen and bring bottled water. For safety reasons, guests who suffer from vertigo, have a fear of heights or claustrophobia should consider carefully before committing to this tour. Ensure you bring along extra cash or credit card to purchase lunch during free time in Kuranda.
