A fully-electric replacement for the iconic Nissan GT-R supercar is underway, with the Japanese manufacturer saving the best of its five new ‘Hyper’ concepts until last – the Hyper Force that previews an incredible 1000kW Godzilla EV.
If you’re in any doubt, the pixelated GTR logo at the front-end of this awesome supercar says it all, while the initial details Nissan has provided on the car that made its world debut today at the Tokyo Mobility Show are no less impressive.
The Hyper Force has emerged with a whopping 1000kW e-4ORCE all-wheel drive powertrain, a solid-state battery, “optimal weight balancing” and a pair of drive modes – ‘R’ (racing) and ‘GT’ (grand touring).
A lightweight carbon body underpins wide, menacing proportions, complete with bold lines and a huge front splitter.
Nissan says the NISMO racing team had a lot to do with the Hyper Force concept’s design, in order to achieve maximum aerodynamic performance and loads of downforce.
As such, a “two-tiered” structure under the bonnet is said to aid cooling as well as provide strong downforce, while the dual-level rear diffuser helps control airflow.
Both ends of the rear wing, the front canards and front fender flip provide active aero functionality, while a plasma actuator is tipped to provide maximum grip and minimum inner-wheel lift when cornering.
In addition to the front logo, the quad LED tail-lights are another nod to Nissan’s famed supercar, while an intuitive fully-digital cockpit makes for an impressively futuristic cabin.
Detailed vehicle information is served to the driver via four satellite screens around the steering wheel, with information including tyre grip and temperature, air pressure, brake rotor temperature, power distribution, suspension settings and more.
Elsewhere, the two-seater gets carbon-fibre seats with four-point belts.
Blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, you’ll even be able to ‘drive’ the Hyper Force while the vehicle is parked.
Using a special helmet with blind visors and a virtual reality (VR) set-up, the driver can enter a game-like experience, where they can challenge friends, compete on their own or against digital ghosts on real-world race circuits.
The Nissan Hyper Force is the fifth and final car in Nissan’s Hyper concept series, following the unveiling of the Hyper Urban crossover, Hyper Adventure off-roader, Hyper Tourer people-mover, and Hyper Punk SUV.
“All five concept cars showcased today are symbols of the future and embody our founding spirit of ‘daring to do what others don’t’,” said Nissan boss Makoto Uchida.
“We have advanced our EV innovations, moving beyond mobility to create a more sustainable world.
“The EVs symbolise our future of creating a cleaner, safer and more inclusive world for everybody without compromising on passions and dreams.”
