HEAVIES
As a heavy pilot you will be providing essential mission support in a wide range of arenas. You may have the opportunity to fly a humanitarian relief mission one day and then airdrop a tank the next. Heavy aircraft are some of the most versatile in the Air Force.
C-130 HERCULES
The C-130 alone flies a wide variety of missions. Depending on which model you end up in, you might be attacking a target with a howitzer cannon or supporting a SEAL team as the jump out of your aircraft. The opportunities for a C-130 pilot are endless.
C-17 GLOBEMASTER
C-17's play an essential role in making the mission happen. Almost any time you deploy, a C-17 will be flying you to your destination. These aircraft are used heavily in paratrooper drops, cargo drops and even flying hospitals. The C-17 is also one of very few airframes in the Air Force that can land on non-conventional surfaces.
KC-135 STRATOTANKER
Aircraft can't fly without fuel. The mission of the KC-135 is to refuel the Air Force fleet while never having to land. As a KC-135 pilot you might lead a long cross country with fighters flying off your wing or meet an aircraft halfway through their flight to refill their gas.
C-5 GALAXY
If you fly the C-5, be prepared to be behind the controls of one of the larges aircraft in the world. You mission will be to transport an absurd amount of cargo, or cargo that previously was thought impossible to fly. Flying this behemoth will allow you to see all different parts of the world as you fly from one location to another.
E-3 SENTRY
The E-3 is a flying command post. With its massive radar and numerous computers, this aircraft can monitor and control a large scale aerial engagement. Not only can the E-3 control a fight, they can also identify enemy aircraft, monitor airspace and much more.
U-2 DRAGON LADY
The U-2 itself is not a heavy aircraft but many times, getting into the cockpit of the U-2 comes after piloting a heavy aircraft for some time. This famous airframe is an intelligence asset that can deliver accurate high quality images of enemy movement, positions and assets. Flying this aircraft will put you at the edge of space.
