Review: The World Islands

The World Islands consist of 300 manmade islands, at the cost of $14 billion, located just off the coast of Dubai. Each landmass is named after a different country, though their shapes and relationships to each other are far from authentic. Construction of the sandy archipelago began in 2003, paused in 2008 as the Financial Crisis crashed through the islands and the real world, and started up again last year with a project called "The Heart of Europe". Once completed in December 2016, the resort will boast not only underwater bedrooms, tame deer, and petting turtles, but "rain and snow-lined streets," created by the world’s first outdoor climate-control technology.
