Officially presented in June, but only recently published on the internet by DreamWorks Animation, the animated short Bilby is one of the films shortlisted for the Oscar for the best animated short film.

Directed by Liron Topaz, Pierre Perifel, and JP Sans and made in CGI, the short film immediately introduces us to the main character, a bilby, known as macrotis, an animal of the marsupial genre, who escapes into the middle of the Australian desert. He, Perry, doesn’t like to live in a company, he’s a loner, but an unexpected encounter will change his life.

Perry, in fact, stumbles upon a gull pup which, without really wanting it, he will find himself taking care of, trying to save him from the dangers of nature and from ravenous animals.

Bilby is the story of a relationship that began in an unconventional, forced way that over time becomes a special friendship, indissoluble.
