Former Miss Australia Laura Csortan, 44, reveals the reality of dating as a single mother in Sydney's eastern suburbs

Television presenter Laura Csortan has revealed the reality of dating as a busy single mother in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

The 44-year-old told Jana Hocking's Kinda Sorta Dating podcast this week the dating scene was 'tough' for her personally.

'It's hard being a single mum and trying to date,' Laura said.

'I have found it harder since having a little girl, but I don't know whether it is coming from me or the dude,' she added.

Laura said her 'time is precious' because of her daughter Layla, four, adding that it's also hard trying to find a man who is after something serious. 

She explained there are 'too many players' in Sydney, but she has no chance of meeting anyone interstate because of Covid.

Laura said she was using Raya, an exclusive dating app for famous singles, which was a sore point for podcast host Jana who keeps getting rejected from the app. 

The guest added that she has dated younger men in the past, which is a popular trend for women in their forties, but these men have their challenges too.  

'They have been really excited for it in the beginning,' she said.

'My last relationship was with a younger guy but then the cracks started to show several months with the experience,' she added.

Laura went on to mention that some single men label a woman's child a 'S.O.C.K' meaning 'some other c**t's kid'. 

The former beauty queen concluded by saying that lockdown with a four-year-old child has been like 'survival mode' for her.
