That's not one of yours! Marc Jacobs chooses a Hermés Birkin bag to carry his beachwear over his own trusty designs
It's not unusual to see a metro-sexual male carrying a man bag.
Especially when the man in question is a global superstar in the world of fashion.
It is strange, however, to see Marc Jacobs giving such a blatant endorsement to a rival brand.
The man bag: Designer Marc Jacobs carries a Hermés bag to the beach instead of one of his own designs in St. Barts
The creative director of Louis Vuitton was spotted carrying a very large Hermés Birkin bag which would have cost him anything between $9,000 and $150,000.

Jacobs designs his own range of handbags with some costing almost $6,000, so it was surprising to see him sporting another brand.
Marc obviously has good taste as the Birkin bag is handmade and named after actress and singer Jane Birkin.

The hand-stitched bag, which has gold detail, can be made from expensive materials including crocodile, ostrich, and leather.
Marc's expensive accessory, which also has a two year waiting list, matched his beach wear outfit.
He wore a long pair of black shirts and a black vest after leaving the beach.

The designer did however stick to his own creation with his Louis Vuitton beach towel which he bundled into his bag.
The 48-year-old fashion designer has been on holiday in St. Barts with his ex-fiance Lorenzo Martone and has kept his trusty man bag with him the whole time.
Lorenzo opted for a more beach friendly bag to carry his belongings and also colour coordinated his white shirt and shorts to match it.

It seems that the idyllic island is a hit with other celebrities too because the pair bumped into some stellar names.
Hollywood actor Djimon Hounsou and his wife Kimora Lee Simmons stopped to say hello to the former couple.
Fashionista Kimora looked great in a short green dress and was happy to see the pint sized designer.
The ex-wife of Def Jam Records supremo Russell Simmons gave Marc a huge hug and introduced her husband to him and Lorenzo.

The pair have been topping up their tans and showing off their toned bodies on the French speaking island.
Earlier in the day the friends took a romantic stroll along the beach and frolicked in the waves.
Marc, who has many tattoos of cartoon characters on his body, was wearing a union flag towel which also had M&M characters on.

Lorenzo meanwhile chose a pair of super tight brown coloured swimming trunks and he accessorised with a black Louis Vuitton scarf which he wore as a bandana.
The former couple also stopped to talk to a group of friends on the beach and shared a joke with a female friend who chose some futuristic looking sunglasses.
