Cadbury World, in Bourneville, Birmingham, has unveiled a new immersive ride, Cadbury Chocolate Quest, thanks to an £8million makeover that's sure to have kids and adults alike racing to hop aboard. The theme park says the ride offers "an immersive, interactive and educational experience, full of chocolatey fun and surprises" – and you get a delicious chocolate treat at the end of it!

The indoor ride takes guests on a mission set by the iconic Cadbury character, Freddo. They'll jump aboard a Cadbury car and complete a quest to collect all the ingredients needed to make a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk, using lasers to zap them up.

After the chocolatey quest, guests will get off the ride and collect a Cadbury treat made with all the ingredients they have 'collected.' The ride uses 3D sets and virtual screens, along with sounds, lights, smells and heat for an interactive and sensory experience that will blow your socks (or chocolate wrappers) off.

Cadbury Chocolate Quest replaces the current ride, Cadabra, which is closing after 27 years. Since opening in 1997, over 14 million guests have experienced the Cadabra ride, including A-list guests like Princess Anne, Adele, Simon Pegg and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Cadbury World is getting a new ride as part of a wider investment by Merlin Entertainments, who took over the operations a year ago. Tim Waters, regional director of the Birmingham cluster at Merlin Entertainments, said: "We're delighted to announce the upcoming opening of Cadbury Chocolate Quest. The new ride will be an opportunity for parents to take their children through a whole new chocolatey experience, with even more fun along the way.

"The motivation and inspiration behind the new ride comes with larger ambitions for the future of Cadbury World, and we're excited for our guests to enjoy what's in store at our attraction this year."

Other upgrades include improvements to the interactive Have a Go Zone, a completely revamped Bournville Experience and an upgraded Advertising Avenue. Guests can also experience the 4D Chocolate Adventure cinema and chocolate making demonstrations.

Advance tickets to Cadbury World can be bought online for £18.95, or £28 with afternoon tea included if you fancy a more quintessentially British experience. You can also bundle the park together with other attractions around the UK like Legoland and Warwick Castle from £35 per adult.

The theme park is nestled in Bourneville, the spot where Richard and George Cadbury chose to relocate their booming business back in 1879. They moved it from the heart of Birmingham to the countryside, just four and a half miles away. The suburb's name has since become a household name in Britain, thanks to the Cadbury chocolate bar named after it.
