About this vintage design furniture

Impressive entrance mirror, with coat rack, umbrella stand and a central hole for canes. Undoubtedly a unique piece of French Art Nouveau, circa 1900. It is characterized by its great height, in spite of which it is a light, stylized and elegant piece, as well as by its sinuous lines, so typical of the style to which it corresponds, due to its inspiration in the forms of the nature. The aesthetic sensation of a long curved line, elegantly twisted shapes and curls, known as "whip curves" or "eyelash curves"; these are elongated curved lines that fold back on themselves. Made of walnut hardwood, with floral and plant carvings, as seen in the planter or lower cane where a lily path is carved. With different pieces of bronze curved with elegant shapes, which embellish the furniture. In Art Nouveau, there is a great influence of Japanese art, as well as a great connection with nature, plants, insects ... are repeated in a linear manner. Art Nouveau furniture was very expensive furniture, which required a high level of skill, the curves being made by hand. It was a style that most people could not afford. Today, these pieces are highly sought after due to their lower quality of workmanship and the short period of activity of the movement. After World War I, the transformation to the Art Deco style began, but it only lasted about 20 years. The Art Nouveau movement was born in France and spread throughout Europe. In France, among others, Hector Guimard, Viollet Le Duc... The Paris World's Fair in 1900 marked an important stage in this movement, which reached its peak at the PRIMA EXPOSIZIONE INTERNATIONALE D, ART DECORATIF MODERNE in Turin, Italy, in 1902.This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an outstanding work of art representative of French Art Nouveau.Art Nouveau...Art Nouveau was a current of artistic renewal developed between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in Europe. It was a new art, young, free and modern, in rupture with what had preceded. It valued the craft, but did not renounce the industrial advances. It sought beauty, aesthetic results, and for that it was inspired by nature: organic forms, curved lines, sensual patterns, flowers. It embraced all the arts, although it excelled in architecture and decorative arts, with a marked decorativism.Art Nouveau, especially in England, was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement and shared the revaluation of traditional craftsmanship and nature; however, Art Nouveau also took advantage of the materials and techniques of the new industrial age to create a modern style. Aesthetically, they can be very similar, so their differences are more conceptual. Arts and Crafts championed the value of craftsmanship against industrialization. It achieved this through simple forms inspired by nature. Reference : 263687
