John Simm has revealed he's open to a Life on Mars revival, following reports that the BBC previously turned down a two-part special.

Series co-creator Ashley Pharoah said recently that the Beeb had declined to commission a revival, since it "didn't make financial sense".

But speaking to Digital Spy and other press, Simm admitted he's still keen to reprise his role of Sam Tyler, a present-day cop transported back to the 1970s. (Or so it appears...)

"I think there were three years between Life on Mars and [follow-up series] Ashes to Ashes that we could mine," he said. "And, of course, it's about time travel, so you can get away with anything with time travel.

"It could end up like Doctor Who – I never thought that was going to happen again and then… time travel!"

Suggesting that a Life on Mars revival is "possible" in future, Simm added that "no one has mentioned" any such project to him. "I'd certainly consider it!" he said.

Who wouldn't love to see another adventure with Sam and the Gene Genie? Come on, BBC, here's your chance to go back in time and correct the mistakes of the past...
