Star Trek: Picard season 3 is getting The Next Generation band back together.
Joining Patrick Stewart's captain of the USS Enterprise, Jean-Luc Picard, will be LeVar Burton (reprising Lt Commander Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Worf) and Gates McFadden (Dr Beverly Crusher).
Following John de Lancie's return as the intergalactic trickster Q in season 2, plus Jonathan Frakes (Commander William T Riker), Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi) and Brent Spiner (Data) cropping up on occasion, it's about bloody time we say.
Frakes, Sirtis, and Spiner have also been confirmed to appear in the final season.

Reacting to this nostalgia-inducing news, Picard showrunner Terry Matalas said in a statement (via Deadline): "I remember watching the premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation almost 34 years ago with my father like it was yesterday. It was the spark that ignited my love for science-fiction.
"So, it's most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honouring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the USS Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honour.
"The entire Star Trek: Picard team and I can't wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three!"

Just less than a year ago, de Lancie revealed that the second and third seasons were shooting back-to-back. Filming for the third season wrapped earlier this year, so it's likely that Next Generation sixsome have already completed their work.
As for spacefaring stalwart Stewart, the series lead recently teased romance in the air for Picard.
Star Trek: Picard season 2 airs Thursdays on Paramount+ in the US and Fridays on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
