Wayne was born on January 29, 1945, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Tollie and Sue Bogan. As an Army brat, Wayne lived in many places in his childhood, including Germany. When his father retired from the United States Army, the Bogan family settled in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After visiting California to attend his brother’s wedding, Wayne decided to move to California and ultimately made California his lifelong home.
Wayne was inducted into the United States Army in September 1965 and was sent to war in Vietnam after basic training. He served as an Infantryman and Parachute Rigger. He served close to 2 years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1967, serving as a reservist until 1971. While he never discussed his experience while enlisted and at war, Wayne served with honor receiving a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, One Overseas Service Bar and Marksman acknowledgement.
Wayne worked in the Electronic Circuit Board industry for close to 40 years primarily as a Quality Assurance Engineer. He left an impressionable mark both professionally and personally, a valuable asset to any company he worked for.
Wayne Allan Bogan loved fast cars. As a young man, his beloved corvettes were his babies. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, until recently. He was finally made to see the light and was converted to rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders by his beloved niece and nephew, Stephanie and Michael Bogan. He was also a huge NASCAR fan and loved watching NCAA Softball. Wayne was passionate about food. He loved to cook, and he loved to eat. That man could work his way on the grill! He often sent his favorite recipes out to family and friends. Family gatherings always included lots of good food. Wayne had a keen sense of humor with a hearty laugh that was contagious. He was a kind, gentle spirit even when life was not so kind or gentle.
Family was of utmost importance to Wayne. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Platt, forever sister-in-law, Pennye Mitchell, forever wife, Betty Bogan, 9 grandchildren, a host of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins along with many friends who were true family to him. Wayne was preceded in death by his father Tollie Bogan, mother, Sue Willie Bogan, brother, Tollie Earl Bogan and his son, Anthony Bogan. He was a beloved father, son, brother, and uncle.
