Megan Elizabeth Sawyer, 12 of Coloma died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, Nov 14 following a lifelong battle with Rett Syndrome. A service celebrating Megan's life will be held 1:00 pm Friday, Nov 19 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Donations in memory of Megan may be made to IRSF www.rettsyndrome.org. Cremation will take place following the service. Megan was born Oct 3, 1998 in St Joseph to Vern and Sara (Robinson) Sawyer. Although being burdened with Rett Syndrome from day one you would never know it by her full of life attitude and the love she expressed for her family, often flaunting the longest eyelashes you have ever seen. She even thought of giving to others less fortunate by donating hair to Locks of Love. Megan loved Disney movies and one of her most memorable moments was her trip to Disney World with Make a Wish Foundation. In addition to her church family at Twelve Corners Community Church in Benton Harbor Megan is survived by her parents; three brothers Tyler, Dylan, and Devin; grandmothers Karen Sawyer of Coloma and Sarah Bachleda of Buchanan; and a grandfather Lilburn Robinson of Hartford. She was preceded in death by grandfathers Thomas Sawyer & Andrew Bachleda.
