Exclusive! Ewan McGregor & Liam Neeson Returning for a Star Wars Film

Everyone’s favorite Jedi will be back in the Galaxy Far, Far Away! Ewan McGregor has exclusively confirmed with Faking Star Wars that he and Liam Neeson will both be returning in a Star Wars film, but which one?  Details after the jump!

Not only will we be seeing both Liam and Ewan in the third planned Star Wars Anthology film, but Ewan has also confirmed he will have a cameo in Star Wars Episode VIII as Force ghost Obi-Wan.

“I appear to Luke and his new padawans,” McGregor explains. “I will instruct them on the ways of the Force and Luke will learn a thing or two as well!”

Obi-Wan during “Crazy Old Wizard” days on Tatooine.

Ewan went on to explain how the Kenobi Anthology film will play out and what Neeson’s involvement will be.

  • Qui-Gon will only physically appear in a few dream sequences Obi-Wan endures during his exile on Tatooine.
  • Qui-Gon’s voice will be prominently featured throughout the film acting as Obi-Wan’s “Jiminy Cricket.”
  • Other returning characters include; Greedo, Jabba the Hutt, Sebulba, and Watto.
  • Obi-Wan attends podrace events, gambles in card games, and gets drunk at cantinas blaming himself for Anakin’s fall to the dark side, Padme’s death, and the extinction of the Jedi Order.
  • To earn a wage, Obi-Wan works for Watto but not as a slave. Watto is unaware of Obi-Wan’s relationship with Anakin.
  • He often recalls his former lover Dutchess Satine from the Clone Wars series. Emily Blunt will cameo as Satine in a flashback sex scene, a scene where she reveals she’s pregnant, then lies she aborted the baby against Obi-Wan’s wishes, he was ready to leave the Jedi Order for her. The baby grows up to be Sabine Wren in Rebels as she gave the baby up for adoption.
  • The film will be a western and will feature a “showdown” between Obi-Wan’s friend (a new character) and the film’s antagonist, a familiar bounty hunter looking for Kenobi.
  • Chewbacca and a young Han Solo will cameo in a cantina scene. Obi-Wan will spill a drink on Solo during a drunken episode and will use the Force to get out of it. Chewie remembers Obi-Wan years later but Solo does not.
  • A young Luke and his aunt and uncle do not appear but they are mentioned.
Well that’s all we were able to squeeze out of Ewan but stay tuned as we learn more of Kenobi: A Star Wars Story set to release in 2020.
