Blandfordia nobilis is an erect tufted herb, about 60mm high. It commonly grows in moist peaty open heath on Hawkesbury sandstone.

The slender rough-edged leaves are 2-4mm wide, crowded at the base.

The flowers of Blandfordia nobilis are tubular, reddish orange with yellow tips. 3 to 10 flowers grow at the end of a sturdy stalk above the leaves.

The fruit is a long triangular capsule.

Blandfordia nobilis generally flowers from December to February.
