I didn't do it!

It took five years, two failed hits and several trips to the infirmary later for Joe to finally listen to me.

Now I'm sitting in protective custody, staring at a murder board, wondering whose time I'm serving.

I'm prepared to fight.
Hell, I'm even prepared to die, it beats going back to prison.

What I'm not prepared for, is the truth.

I began my writing journey in 2016 after suffering a breakdown and having major time off work to recover.

I'm a huge fantasy lover and began my journey as an author writing The Wrath of Raghnall which I later shortened to Raghnall's Wrath (new adult fantasy.)

After the pandemic, I began writing contemporary Rom-Com as I felt like I needed something to laugh at and many of my readers felt the same. Screw it! was born and became a hit with my readers.

I will continue to dapple with different genres though, I doubt I will change to a pen name for any. I am immensely proud of all my books and will continue to put my name to any/all works.

A few things about me:

I speak fluent sarcasm and for those who are easily offended, I'm most definitely not the person you want to be around.

I'm a hot chocolate lover with a healthy obsession with all kinds of romance books and an unhealthy obsession with fictional men *Ahem... Bat-boys.📚

I'm a mother to a beautifully demented little boy with ASD and GDD. He loves nothing more than to cause mischief and stalk away laughing maniacally. When my miniature bond villain isn't leaving a trail of destruction behind him, he can be found doting on our two dogs.

When I'm not busy running around after my son— you can find me curled up with a paperback or Kindle in hand—occasionally the odd Audiobook.

I adored this book! I felt like it had everything I could have ever wanted; romance, darkness, humour, spice, mystery, and the telltale voice of an incredible author.

From the first chapter I couldn't stay away from this book for too long. This author is known for her typical Irish humourous wit, and it was not lacking throughout this book. While this is not Richmond's typical genre, she fully exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to see what else she can do.

The story was very well developed, and the twists throughout were subtly woven through the book. I was sure I had it all figured out only then to realise I was wrong. I don't want to say too much that may give any aspect of the story away, but all I can say is, Bravo!

I loved the darker elements of this story, and would love to read more about A.J. I think Richmond has developed an incredible underworld within this story that could branch off to many sequels, and I would definitely read more about any of these characters.

Another fascinating thing about all of Richmond's books is there are no damsels in distress, which I LOVE. Éabha was incredibly fiesty and loveable, even when she was going though hell. I fully related with her. And again without saying too much, I loved the male characters chatting in the office. I felt that was a perfect scene that shows life is not all sunshine and rainbows even if you give off that vibe.

I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone I possible can. The ending, to me, felt just right and like a breath of fresh air compared to other romaces I've read which tend to all follow a particular pattern.

Time and time again Ms. Richmond proves why she is always a one-click-buy author for me. I will literally pay her to write for my wedding and my eulogy, that's how much I adore her writing. I am so excited for what else she dips her feet into, and I can guarantee that I will be the first one to grab it as soon as it is available.

I mean, it goes without saying that this is absolutely a 5* read for me! I completely love everything about Shauna's books and this one was no exception.

Éabha has been convicted of the murder of her (ex) boyfriend, Tommy. Having professed her innocence so many times over the 5 years she's served - and the more recent death of one of Tommy's associates - Guarda Joe enlists the help of friend and fellow guarda Nick to get to the bottom of both cases and free Éabha.

I have to admit to not warming to Éabha as quickly as usual with Shauna's heroines - purely because of her initial behaviour, using Joe to help her case. But I definitely warmed to her as the story progressed.

Famous for writing strong, sassy and assertive female leads - we're once again treated to a brilliant narrative between Éabha and the other characters. Serious when the plot needs but laced with some hilarious banter along the way too.

I loved the little links in this which refer us back to other books by this author, but this absolutely can be read as a standalone.
The addition of some familiar characters and lines that refer us back, was just an added pleasure for anyone who has read these books - but are skillfully added and fit perfectly into the current book and storyline.

I'm purposely avoiding too much of the plot details as I hate giving spoilers - but don't think it will ruin anything, or be any surprise, if I say that this book is spicy, feisty and in places, hilarious.

One of my favourite authors and she's smashed it again!
If you haven't read any of Shauna's books yet - you are missing a treat! I am addicted!

I absolutely love Shauna's writing.

I loved Screw It! And the first books in the Olden Chronicles are just amazing.

Éabha is in prison for a crime she didn't commit, and Joe is a Garda that believes she is innocent.

I loved reading about the gang from Screw It! again as they get in about trying to prove Éabha's innocence and bring down a crooked Garda.

I love how Shauna incorporates serious issues with a bit of a light hearted feel about it. I love the humour throughout the book too, a good few times I was laughing out loud. The banter is on point and the fierce loyalty of the group, especially with the guys, is great to read.

It was fast paced, funny, heartwarming and with a whole lot of spice thrown in, it was a great read.

wow what a spin off book! Jailbait is set in the same world and time as the Screw It world, but we see a completely different story and lives of characters that are close to Craig. I loved the whole undercover scenario and scenes and the detective storyline, this is something different for Shauna the author but it completely works! This is a fast pacing book, with a lot of action, and a lot of spice - and don’t forget the hunky guys am I right?? Can’t miss the hunk on hunk boyband here.
There is so much you can do with this world and the Screw It world that I can’t wait to see what Shauna creates next!

I had the opportunity to be a beta reader for Shauna and this book. I was hooked from the first page to the last. The plot is very well written and characters are well thought out. The characters POV all flow well with main POV. I felt really attached to the main character Éabha, the characters do have Irish names but they are easily pronounced due to the Pronunciation at the start of the book.

First, thank you @shauna.richmond
for sending me an advance copy for my honest opinion.

Èabha pronounced Ay-va has been convicted of murdering her ex Tommy. Joe, a garda, finally believes that she hasn't done it.

This book isn't the usual style Shauna writes, but you wouldn't think so. I loved the characters, especially Jason he is a bit of a comedian. I was hooked from the first page.
The spice and chemistry was 🔥

If you like a dark romance with a murder mystery added in the mix, then you should definitely go and preorder this one!

I was privileged to be a beta reader for Shauna and I absolutely loved it. From the minute I picked it up I was hooked. The characters are great and all work brilliantly together. The main character, Éabha = pronounced Ay-Va, is definitely my favourite. Really liked the pronunciations of the characters names at the start as I can’t move on until I know how to pronounce them!

Update

This book! I have recently re-read it and wanted to expand my review. It has humour, mystery, romance, 🌶️, darkness and the voice of the incredible Shauna.

From the moment I picked this up I was hooked. The typical Irish humourous wit that Shauna uses is class, as always! This book exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait for more of the same genre.

Let’s talk about the story, it was beautifully developed and had twists that threw me as I thought I had it figured out! How wrong was I!

The darker elements of the story I loved and the development of the incredible underworld within this story begs for more books to be written. I need a whole series with about the underworld and everyone in it. The characters alone, could each have their own book which would be immense (hint, hint Shauna 😂)

Éabha isn’t your typical damsel in distress. She is a fiesty and loveable character, even when things were tough.

I’m not giving anything away this book as you need to go read it. The ending was perfect! I recommend this book to anyone and everyone that I can.

Addictive, Intense, Gripping.

I read this book when I was on holiday in January. I love Shauna’s writing. It was very hard to put down this book.

This story is so addictive. There are so many plot twists and some steamy scenes as well.

I loved the crossover between the characters from Screw It! which was the first book that I read by Shauna.

It was a 4.5 star read for me. Thank you to the author for a gifted copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I would definitely recommend the book if you enjoy a thriller/romance with a bit of added spice.

I know that there has been a book before this one but I haven't read it, so this is my first. The story is about Eabha, she's was sent to prison for a murder, that she didn't do and there's only Joe a Garda that believes she didn't do it and she is innocent. After fighting this for over 5 years Will she be able to prove her innocence? The only thing that might help her prove she didn't kill Tommy is one of his associates is now dead, is there a connection to this death and Tommy's? The only person that can help her is Joe, but what can he do to help?
Personally I want to read "Screw It" and then read this one again, as there was times I wasn't sure about things. It did move at a good pace and there are twist and turns. Oh and thank you for the pronunciation in the Author notes as I thought I was saying the names right but of course I wasn't

Éabha is in prison for a crime she didn't commit, and Joe is a Garda that believes she is innocent.

I tend to read middle-grade books so this was definitely a change! Such a fast paced, humourous story with a LOT of spice! 🔥🔥

I could have easily read this book in one sitting (if I didn’t have a job to go to!). It is a Romance/murder mystery book – my two favourite types wrapped up perfectly in this story.

The back and forth between the characters is gripping and witty with humour added throughout. The characters were well thought out and I was drawn to Éabha’s plight. There are some really serious themes running throughout, they are written to get the reader thinking and never taking away from the severity of them.

Highly recommend reading this book.

If you like books on the darker side you will love this, when I started didn’t want to put down but had things to get done. The plot had me hooked from the start I couldn’t figure out how it was going to go in the end and it made me love it more. I just wish I could re read it for the first time again. The characters have a great connection with each other

Ah, this is Richmond at her best - witty banter, loveable characters, spot-on dialogue and a great plot with a side dose of spice. I alternate between snort-laughing out my coffee and eyes widening at - ahem - certain scenes :) but an absolute joy of escapism on every page.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy, and look forward to hopefully more of the same genre in the future.
