If you know your way around the 100 yards of a football pitch in Europe, there’s one thing you are guaranteed – a hefty paycheck. And, not to mention, everything fancy that tags along with these thousand-dollar weekly salaries – cars, mansions, and anything you desire. A few front runners live in larger than life mansions, spread over acres of land, and with some of the most breathtaking views. Take a look here.

Cristiano Ronaldo to David Beckham, footballers and their sprawling mansions

1. Neymar Jr

Currently with PSG and formerly with FC Barcelona, Neymar Jr is spending quarantine in his two-and-a-half acre property in Rio. The Brazilian forward is one of the few footballers who can brag about accessing a jetty and a helipad from his house. Apart from this, his $8.5 million property also boasts a gym, tennis court, sauna, massage room, volleyball sand-court and a spa and jacuzzi.

2. David Beckham

According to Architectural Digest India, David Beckham has a property portfolio that is worth $75 million (£62 million). The footballer owns properties in Miami, Dubai, London and a holiday home in the Cotswolds. His property in London is where the Beckhams spend most of their time. It includes two dressing rooms, a playroom, spa and gym among other amenities. Interestingly, the house took over three years to be completed, as the Beckhams wanted everything to be perfect and eventually moved in, in 2016.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo

About a year ago, Cristiano Ronaldo invested $2.3 million AUD in a grand villa. This is just one of his many homes around the world. He owns a house in his club's (Juventus) home town of Turin, an apartment in New York City's Trump Tower, and a pad in La Finca, where he lived during his days at Real Madrid. His newest property is where the footballer was quarantined these past few months.

4. Lionel Messi

We’re certain you’ve seen memes or heard rumours of Messi’s football-shaped home, but there isn’t any truth in them. The Argentinian has set base in Barcelona with his wife and kids in a mansion that overlooks the Catalan Hills and Mediterranean Sea. His luxurious property also houses a gym, a spa, a private theatre and a swimming pool.

5. Wayne Rooney

Another footballer with a stellar property portfolio, Wayne Rooney also has a regulation-size football pitch in his mansion in Cheshire. The home has a panic room too, after Rooney and his family were victims of a burglary at their previous mansion. It boasts the regular luxuries including a bar, TV room, wine cellar, cinema and snooker rooms. The main attraction, however, is the indoor swimming pool that’s surrounded by a glass pavilion, a hot tub, plunge pool and steam room.
