Luke Wilson has closed a deal to join the cast of The Goldfinch, the adaptation of the Donna Tartt best-seller being made by Warner Bros. and Amazon Studios.
John Crowley (Brooklyn) is directing the drama that has Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort toplining as a young man who loses his mother in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is taken in by a wealthy family, only to be drawn into New York City’s art underworld.
Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright and Aneurin Barnard are among those on the call sheet for the movie, which will begin shooting later in January.
Wilson will play Elgort’s father, a failed actor and alcoholic who comes back into his life to try to take care of him.
Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force are producing.
Wilson recently appeared as part of the ensemble of Cameron Crowe’s rock drama Roadies and appeared with Ben Stiller in Mike White’s drama Brad’s Status.
He is repped by CAA and Hirsch Wallerstein.
