Wisteria plants are basically Mother Nature's way of showing off. How else can you explain why these gorgeous flowers not only have bright and vibrant purple petals, but also drape in such a magical way that it's almost impossible to describe (this tunnel says everything we can't). If you haven't seen these stunning flowers in person, Ashikaga Flower Park is calling your name.
It's located about two hours from Tokyo in the town of Ashikaga and features 23 acres covered in more than 350 wisterias. There's also a 140-year-old Great Miracle Wisteria tree, which is considered one of the most stunning floral displays in all of Japan, and to some, in the world. If you want to check it out for yourself, wisterias are at their peak during spring, specifically mid-April to mid-May — and this is what they have in store for you.
The park also has wisteria-covered tunnels for visitors to explore and a purple pergola, which is located in front of a pond and reflects the flowers when the area is illuminated.
Even if you're not a super fan of wisteria, the park has other attractions, such as a Rainbow Garden with a variety of roses and the Blue and White Garden, which is filled with hydrangeas, iris and clematis. Basically, everywhere you turn is covered in splashes of natural color. Show off.
