Sub Aqua lend hand across border
DUNDALK Sub Aqua Search and Rescue is extending a helping hand across the border and assisting in the setting up of a new underwater search and recovery unit in midUlster.
The Dundalk club, which has assisted in a number of high profile operations in the waters of Northern Ireland, is linking up with the Dungannon Search and Rescue unit to help launch the new service.
Members of Dundalk Sub Aqua recently travelled to Dungannon where they gave a demonstration in the pool of the leisure centre.
Alan Bogan also gave a powerpoint presentation on the work of the voluntary organisation which has been involved in numerous successful rescue operations as well as those where bodies had been recovered.
It was pointed out that the emergency services don't have underwater search and recovery facilities and that the only funding provided for the service is raised through public donations and membership fees.
