Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India today launched the 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sports for an introductory price of Rs 15.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports is not only 5 kg lighter than its predecessor, but also boasts of a bigger engine, lightweight chassis and new electronics. While the bookings for the new Africa Twin Adventure Sports have started, the deliveries will start from May 2020.

Powering the 2020 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports is a new BS6-compliant, 1,084cc, parallel-twin engine. The outgoing variant was equipped with a 998cc engine. The power and torque numbers in the new Africa Twin Adventure Sports have increased by 12 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively. Apart from the regular DCT, the bike gets a manual transmission option for the first time. Both MT and DCT variants get six riding modes -- Tour, Urban, Gravel, Off-Road, User 1 and User 2.

The 2020 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports sits on an aluminium subframe. Also available is an aluminium swingarm. There are inverted Showa forks at the front and fully adjustable Pro-Link suspension with 220mm stroke at the rear. The bike features spoked wheels (21-inch front and 18-inch rear) and tubeless tyres. There are a couple of ABS modes -- on-road and off-road. The rider can turn off the ABS as well. The ABS is integrated with a 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit).

The IMU in the new Africa Twin Adventure Sports controls TBW (Throttle by Wire) and an expanded 7-level HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control). It also manages four new technologies that have been introduced in the 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sports -- wheelie control, cornering ABS, rear lift control and cornering detection.

The 2020 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports features a 6.5-inch coloured TFT touchscreen MID with the Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity. There are new dual LED headlights with DRLs and new cornering lights. The new Africa Twin Adventure Sports features a 5-stage adjustable windscreen and new heated grips. There are higher-set handlebars and a slimmer-section seat. The cruise control feature is now standard. The 24.8-litre fuel tank is new. Also, there is a new exhaust system.
