The City of Corpus Christi celebrated the reopening of the iconic Watergarden after a seven-year hiatus due to damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. The newly renovated landmark is operational and open to the public, with state-of-the-art upgrades that enhance its functionality and aesthetic appeal. Located in the heart of the SEA District, the Watergarden is surrounded by prominent cultural and educational institutions, including the American Bank Center, the Art Museum of South Texas, the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, and the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures & Education Center. Following extensive damage in 2017, the Watergarden underwent significant improvements, including enhancing flood defenses, updating mechanical systems, advanced drainage solutions, benches for seating, and landscaping. The garden now features programmable LED lighting systems with multiple color sequences suitable for various events and holidays.
