60 Decibels joined a webinar with Calvert Impact & Community Reinvestment Fund, USA to discuss the results of our recent report on the SOAR Fund; these loans were critical for many businesses as they recover from COVID-19's worst impacts. As we all get a little older finding ways to make the world around us a little better becomes more important. For some geeky reason I've always really liked the compounding impact of micro-financing. Some of us take for granted the opportunities provided to us by the availability of capital and what it can do for those without the same access. Today I made my 1,000th loan via https://www.kiva.org and that's not the important part. What's important is how little capital I've actually contributed and the exponential impact it's had. Some stats: The same capital has been lent about 15x to people in 78 different countries and over the now 1,008 loans has a 0.84% default rate. Which kind of proves that most people want to put in honest days work when they have the opportunity.
