The Fastest Jet Built: The X-15 The North American X-15 was developed by the American Air Force and NASA and managed to achieve a speed of Mach 6.7 (4,520mph) in a manned flight. The X-15 managed to achieve this speed during a flight in October in 1967, however the goal was not to be the fastest aircraft, but to bridge the gap between human flight in the atmosphere and spaceflight. In a flight piloted by Joseph A. Walker, in 1963, the X-15 flew above the Kármán line and effectively flew the plane, in Space. #NASA #Aviation #Aerospace

The Galileo spacecraft 🚀, launched on October 18, 1989, aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis, marked a historic mission to study Jupiter and its moons. It became the first spacecraft to orbit an outer planet, arriving at Jupiter on December 7, 1995. Equipped with various instruments, Galileo made groundbreaking discoveries 🌌, including evidence of subsurface oceans on Europa, active volcanoes on Io, and a detailed understanding of Jupiter's atmosphere and magnetosphere. Its legacy continues to inspire future missions, and on this December 7, we remember the historic arrival of Galileo at Jupiter in 1995. 🪐 #galileo #spacecraft #mission #jupiter #exploration #space #discovery #nasahistory #outerplanet #orbit #spacescience #galileo #legacy #joviansystem #etextraterrestrial #astronomy #adventures #spaceexploration #december7 #anniversary #historic #spacearrival #inspiring #science #milestones #linkedin #linkedinlearning

NASA’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter, which made history as the first aircraft to fly on another planet, has lost contact with Earth during its latest flight. According to NASA officials, Ingenuity had successfully reached its planned altitude of 40 feet (12 meters) but lost communication with the Perseverance rover during its descent before landing. The cause of the communication failure is unknown, and the Ingenuity team is analyzing the available data and looking for ways to reestablish contact with the helicopter. Stay tuned for updates on this groundbreaking mission. #technology #space #spacemission #moon #rocket #rockets #spaceexploration #aerospace #satellite #satellites #spacetechnology #spaceinnovation #spacecraft #spacenews #spacestation #Ingenuity #Mars #SpaceExploration

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory An update on #Voyager1: The team sent a "poke" to prompt V1's flight data system (FDS) and saw activity that differed from past attempts. A DSN engineer helped decode the data in the signal, which may contain clues to the source of the issue. The team is devising a potential plan of action. Remember: This will take time since the spacecraft, which launched in 1977, is currently more than 15 billion miles (24 billion km) from Earth! At that distance, radio signals take about 22.5 hours - each way - to travel between Voyager 1 and Earth. Did you know the moon has its own kind of earthquakes called Moonquakes? Studying these lunar tremors is not only very exciting but also important to help design spacecraft and habitats for astronauts on the Moon and even for Martian environments. #moon #mars #Moonquakes #earthquakes #spacecraft

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced that the Lander Module of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is set to undergo a crucial deboosting manoeuvre. The Lander Module, which includes the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover, successfully separated from the Propulsion Module on August 17. The Lander will now be lowered to an orbit closer to the moon's surface, where it will attempt a soft landing on the south polar region of the moon. The soft landing on the lunar south pole is scheduled for 5.47 pm next Wednesday. If successful, India will become the fourth country to master soft-landing on the moon's surface after the US, China, and the former Soviet Union. . . . #chandrayaan3 #chandrayaan #lunar #orbit #ISRO #rover #nasa #moonmission #spaceexploration #spacecraft #TranslunarOrbit #SpaceExploration #Lunarmission #Spacenews #chandrayaanupdate #Astronews #Cosmicdiscoveries #Scienceinspace
