Graphic Designers' Secret - Lesson 1

Graphic Designers' Secret - Lesson 1

So many clients ask me how can they capture images from their computer screen to make their presentation stand out like a graphic designer. The funny thing is that our industry is not difficult at all. A 6th grader can be a great graphic designer with the right training and tools. By-the-way, that is the basic intellect that we require from our students. Creativity is in all of us, it just needs to be developed. I love watching them develop into wonderful designers in just 12 weeks.

Here's why...

How many of you know how to change your own oil? I was taught once. Its just a matter of unscrewing a part under the car and adding new oil. If you don't know which part to touch, you might end up with the wrong fluid that your car needs and mess everything up. This is the same approach that business owners take with their marketing materials. They just rather hire a professional and spend a lot of money instead of learning themselves. Which is great for us! But our graduates can take the expensive cost out of designing in exchange for a small fee and experience.

So here is the secret!

We use Snagit. Its an image capturing tool that will capture videos, images and audio right off the screen. We can take any image and edit it to make it unique. Just like the banner in this post. I just added the Snagit logo on top of the "S" and now you won't be able to find that graphic anywhere unless I post it on the web.

Here are the steps to take to get Snagit on your computer for FREE!

1. Download the TechSmith Snagit software for Google Chrome. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/techsmith-snagit/fcnghgbgmemnlbckdipnmelbanpgneik

2. You will also need the extensions to be able to capture the images from your computer. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/techsmith-snagit-extensio/annopcfmbiofommjmcmcfmhklhgbhkce?hl=en-US

3. Here is a video tutorial that will walk you through learning how to use it. http://youtu.be/_7dG4tZL90w

See, I told you. Graphic designers are just skilled 6th graders that just happened to be 16 years or older in our courses. The more experience they gain, the better they become.

Let our students cut time and money from your budget but in the meantime, I can show you a few tricks or two along the way.
