The nephew of Alisher Usmanov has landed a new role at Everton.

Sarvar Ismailov has been appointed as Everton Women's first Sporting and Commercial Director as part of the club's decision to back Willie Kirk's side with money and other club resources.

Ismailov had been the Blues' Global Partnerships Consultant, joining the club in January 2019, but now moves into a newly created job in the expanded Women's set-up.

The law graduate has previously held the position of Advisor to the Commercial Director at Metalloinvest, a steel and mining company founded by Usmanov, and he also worked as an investment analyst at My.com.

Usmanov has regularly been linked with becoming a shareholder at Everton and joining his long-time friend and business parter, Farhad Moshiri.

But the ECHO understands there are no plans for that to happen and, instead, Usmanov's links with the Blues will remain in the form of sponsorship and his nephew's employment.

USM, the holdings company established by Usmanov, is Everton's training ground, and training wear sleeve, sponsor.

And MegaFon, a company within the USM portfolio, is a matchday partner at Goodison with their signs recently put onto the Park End of the ground.
