Forgive my lack of familiarity, but a -lot- of people seem to be excited about the possibility that Rittenhouse might have brought an AR style rifle from Illinois to Wisconsin. Some states do have odd laws. Is it illegal to bring an AR into Wisconsin?
If the rifle is legal to own in Illinois and is also a configuration that is Wisconsin legal, I'm confused as to why 'crossing state lines' with it is considered such a defining event. It is not an NFA firearm. Presumably it could be used to ascribe a motive with premeditation on the part of Rittenhouse if he brought his own gun with him as if he thought he was 'on a mission.' but this is pure supposition.
We now find out that the rifle was provided after he arrived in Kenosha, (from a Wisconsin resident?) and it changes the narrative considerably. It should defuze the premeditation angle for Rittenhouse, but it would open the door to a new problem: What happens to the owner of the rifle? Are they in legal jeopardy for having provided the rifle to Rittenhouse?
Also, props to the young man for surviving with a 'loaner'. If you've ever had to use someone else's equipment for something important, you know what a gamble that can be.
Because we're "not at that point yet"...
He wasn't "wandering" anywhere; he was with a group (so, likely with 'adult supervision' for folks whining about that), then went to help someone medically, then by the time that had finished the popo were rolling through the area and blocked him from returning to the group he was already with. Or so sayeth the last statement I saw on this topic.
IOW, 'shit happens'.
ROFL at the 'woodland' antifa flag patches; guess that was a special request for the Redneck socialist gun club?
Also the irony of naming it after Dorner... Didn't end so well for his 'exploits' (which were also hardly 'revolutionary' in motivation)

Forget 'Big Shootin' Iron, someone get me a "Roland" remix....
Kyle was a young man/ from the ‘burbs of Illinois
An EMT for hire/ AR rifle slung
The commies getting violent/ on the darkened summer nights
So he set out for Kenosha/ to join the bloody fight
Through fifty nights of riots/ they burned up people’s stores
With their fists up in the air/ swearing they’d take more
Some folks had finally stood up/ ‘that won’t happen to me…’
He went to clean graffiti/and help out the 'Noshanese
Kyle the AR gunner
Kyle the AR gunner
His comrades stood beside him/ as the mob, they did protest
He went out to help injured/ got cut off from the rest
So the commies they decided/ they wanted Kyle dead
That sonofabitch van-Huber/ took a skateboard to Kyle’s head
Kyle the blue-gloved AR gunner
'Nosha's bravest son (evens up the score)
You can see the mob run off into the night
In the muzzle flash of Kyle’s AR gun
In the muzzle flash of Kyle’s AR gun
Kyle kept on runnin’/ to turn himself on in
Before the dust had settled/ the news had had a fit
‘Kyle is a racist turd/ we wish that he was dead’
For without his trusty rifle/ they’d have filled him full of lead
Kyle the blue-gloved AR gunner
Kyle the blue-gloved AR gunner
The eternal AR Gunner/ still wanders through the night
And even decades later/ we won’t give up the fight
In New York, DC, Washington/ in Portland and in Berkeley…
Commie twerps
Heard the burst
Of Kyle’s AR gun
And bought it.

How does the IL FOID system get involved in his rifle? I'm thinking that his parents are divorced and one lives in WI. The rifle was at that house and there are no FOID issues or interstate issues (if any).
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.
It's that simple.
I'm not seeing the whole operator level training angle.
He was running for his life and reacting. He did more falling down than anything......not trying to be critical of the young man, as he has my full support for putting down these felons. I'm just not seeing any "John Wick" moves here. Maybe I didn't watch the video closely enough, I don't know.
"SEND IT" happens to be my trigger words...
Everyone I’ve discussed this situation with IRL I’ve been trying to stay on message and tow the “responsible” line. Namely that I think Kyle’s shootings were all legally justified but that this is an example of why you don’t put yourself in these situations unless you have to. Pick your battles and stay out of this shit unless you have no choice - as in, you need to directly defend yourself your home or your business, or the life, home or business of a third party to whom you have some personal obligation, like a family member or close friend. Don’t fast-rope into the middle of a riot and play Blackhawk Down.
That’s what I’m telling people because, on an intellectual level that seems to be the correct answer. And I’m trying to be a reasonable, logical adult.
Problem is that isn’t actually how I feel. The idea of taking the fight to these scumbags is really starting to become appealing to me on a visceral, reptile-brain level.
I can sit here and remark on Kyle’s questionable decision making and tactics that led up to the shooting, and the potential lack of wisdom of being there in the first place.
But the fact is that kid had the balls to go in, and actually slotted some commies in the process. And my reptile-brain admires that.
