Here’s A Look At 10 Upcoming Skyscrapers In India

Vertical construction is picking up pace in India, with the rising number of skyscraper projects set to redefine not only the skylines of the National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai and other major cities, but also the future of the Indian real estate. Many internationally-acclaimed interior designers, architects, structural and MEP consultants have entered the Indian market bringing along the much-needed expertise and technological prowess in the execution of super-tall buildings.

The ‘Maximum City’ outperforms other cities with the highest number of existing or approved and upcoming high-rise buildings ranging from 150 metres to 450 metres in height. Cities like Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Gurgaon and Noida, which have lack of ample ground space are beginning to embrace the concept of high-rise construction.

MakaaniQ lists ten upcoming skyscrapers in India, which are in various stages of construction:

GIFT Diamond Tower - 1, Ahmedabad

GIFT Diamond Tower is a high-rise project approved for Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT city). Situated in Ahmedabad, the project has a planned height of 400 metres and will comprise of 87 floors. GIFT city is an ambitious project by Government of Gujarat aimed at building an international financial services centre and India's first operational smart city in the Ahmedabad (Amdavad) metropolitan region.

World One, Mumbai

Located at Lower Parel in Mumbai over 17.5 acres of area, World One is a prestigious 442-metre high residential project by Lodha Group, and designed by renowned architects, Pei Cobbs & Partners. The construction of this project, worth over US$321 million, started in 2011 and will be completed in 2019. The tower comprises of 117 floors with 290 luxury units overlooking the Arabian Sea, whose interiors are designed by fashion designer, Giorgio Armani. The price of apartments starts at a staggering Rs. 75 million. After some initial roadblocks, the project is on its way to completion.

Three Sixty West, Tower B, Mumbai

Three Sixty West is an under-construction high-rise project in Mumbai near the Worli Sea Link, comprising of 239-metre Tower A and 372-metre Tower B which has 85 floors. While Tower A will be a hotel, Tower B will have private residences with luxury amenities. The project is being developed by Oasis Realty, a joint venture between Sahana and Oberoi Realty. Construction of the towers involves use of M200 grade concrete for strength for the first time in India.

Supernova, Noida

Supernova by Supertech Limited is a stellar real estate development spanning 17.5 acres of area at Sector 94 in Noida. The project houses 1394 units of branded residences, ranging between 1 BHK and 6 BHK sizes, with lavish features and amenities. Supernova Spira is an iconic LEED-certified tower rising up to 300 meters in height. The serviced suites, priced between Rs 81.20 lakh and 31.45 crore, will offer splendid bird's eye view of Noida city. The construction work is expected to be completed in June 2019.

Palais Royale, Mumbai

Palais Royale is an upcoming skyscraper project developed by Shree Ram Urban Infrastructure at Lower Parel in Mumbai. The supertall 88-storeyed structure has a total height of 320 metres. It is the first residential building in India to receive LEEDS platinum rating. There are 162 luxury 5BHK apartments with 13,376 sqft of super built-up area, accompanied with a host of lifestyle amenities. The structure has been designed by Architect, Talati and Panthaky, and Structural engineer, Joseph Colaco. Built at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore, the project is built on a plot of 7 acres and the construction is likely to finish by December 2021.

North Eye, Noida

North Eye by Supertech Limited is another project near Supernova at Sector 74, Noida covering an area of 6 acres. With a total height of 255 meters, the tower has 66 floors with 2257 units of high-end studio apartments and 2, 3, 4 BHK residences. The construction has been undertaken by B. E. Billimoria using solar thermodynamic principles taking advantage of the local climate to optimally use solar energy. The tower has an open-air restaurant and a helipad beside other amenities. The completion of the project is expected in December 2020. The apartments are priced between Rs 51.95 lakh and Rs 3.48 crore.

Lokhandwala Minerva, Mumbai

Lokhandwala Minerva is an ongoing high-rise project situated in south Mumbai’s desired locality, Mahalaxmi. The property by Lokhandwala Infrastructure spans an area of 1.95 acres with 360 units of 3 BHK and 4 BHK apartments. There are two 82-floor structures in the project encompassing parking areas on 2nd to 16th floors, a podium garden on 17th floor, residential units on 26th to 79th, service floor on 80th floor, penthouse on 81st and 82nd floor and a terrace. The expected date of project completion is December 2022. The towers rise up to a height of 307-metres and have been designed by renowned Architect, Hafeez Contractor, and structural engineer, J+W Consultants.

Omkar 1973, Mumbai

Omkar 1973 by Omkar Realtors and Developers is a high-rise residential property with a total height of 450 metres. Located at Worli in Mumbai, the building is a flagship luxury development which has attracted celebrity homebuyers too. There are three towers within this Rs 10,000 crore project each of 81-storey, 81-storey and 76-storey, with over 400 sky bungalows with high-end 3, 4 and 5BHK apartments. The stunning architectural works have been done by LDA Design and London-based Foster + Partners with the interiors by HBA (Hirch Bedner Associates) from UK. The construction is expected to be completed in December 2020.

Sky link Towers, Mumbai

Sky link Towers are upcoming supertall structures by HBS Realtors Pvt. Ltd. situated at Worli on Dr. Anne Besant Road in Mumbai. The buildings have received pre-certification under Indian Green Buildings (IGBC) Green Home Rating and offer 4 BHK homes, duplexes, penthouses and super penthouses. The design and construction of the 270-metre high buildings has been done by NORR Architects, London, P G Patki Architects and J+W Consultants, Mumbai. The completion is expected in 2020.

The 42, Kolkata

The 42 is a 63-storeyed residential project situated at Chowringhee in Kolkata. The skyscraper is presently the tallest structure in eastern India. Developed by Mani group, the landmark property offers 56 units of luxury 4, 5 and 6 BHK ultra-luxury homes with a host of modern facilities and offering 360-degree views of the city. Designed by reputed architect, Hafeez Contractor, the building reaches up to a height of 268 metres and has a strong foundation with a 56 metres deep piling. The completion is expected in December 2018.
