With Manchester home to two of the most renowned football teams in the world, it is no surprise that some of the wealthiest footballer players choose to reside in our region. Over the years, many affluent areas in the boroughs of Trafford, Stockport and Salford have been home to some pretty big Premiere League footballers including Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Phil Foden.

The 'Golden Triangle' in Cheshire, which is also dubbed the 'footballer belt', has also been known to attract some top players in recent years, who've lived in the likes of Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Prestbury.

With the summer transfer window well underway, players transferring to Manchester United or Manchester City may now be looking to snap up a mansion ahead of the new season - and there are plenty of plush homes to go around.

As expected, these footballer-worthy homes are nothing of the ordinary - boasting their own swimming pools, sprawling gardens, lavish kitchens, bathrooms, living areas and bedrooms.

Estate agents Gascoigne Halman, which has grown to be the leading estate agent across Cheshire and south Manchester, often deal with high profile footballers at the end of every season to help them find a new home.

“We work alongside football clubs and agents to help match players to properties during the transfer window," said Gascoigne Halman’s Hale office manager, Bobby Shahlavi.

"Some players have very specific requests about what their property must include - swimming pools, gyms and home entertainment are common priorities - while others often seek guidance on location and finding a home from where they can pursue hobbies such as golf.

“Getting players moved into properties within the short summer window can be quite a challenge especially given the lengthy timescales of property transactions. Many prefer to rent these days because they move clubs so frequently."

“Manchester City may have just won the treble but the power of three has been strong in our region for many years," Bobby added.

"The Golden Triangle of Alderley Edge, Prestbury and Wilmslow has historically attracted incoming players every season due to its combination of luxury properties, chic boutiques great schools and fashionable eateries.

"More recently, Hale has risen in popularity. Just ten miles from the city centre, it offers a similar array of luxury properties and great nightlife. The Manchester clubs also like their players living in Hale because it places them within easy reach of the training grounds and home stadiums."
