3d Printed 1982 Ford Falcon XE ESP

Just finished this... except for license plates. It's a reasonable facsimile of an Australian 1982 Ford Falcon XE with the ESP package. I consider it a bit of a street machine, as I printed deep wheels for the back, has dual exhaust and custom interior. Everything but the windows, tires, brass axles, exhaust tips, and the side trim is 3d printed.

These cars were the last Falcons in Australia to get a V8 until the 90s if I recall correctly.... and they had 351 Clevelands in them!

Colors are Tamiya Bright Red over Tamiya Light Gunmetal, with 2 heavy coats of Testors Wet Look/Extreme Lacquer clear. Tamiya lacquer bottle orange for side stripe. Tamiya acrylic for interior colors and for the headlights and taillights. Headlights and taillights are covered with bondic. Wheels are colored with Molotow for the rims, and testors gold for the centers.

Nice build of an iconic Aussie classic. The ESP (European Sports Pack) was available in the XD and XE Falcon Fairmont Ghia which had all the luxury options over the standard Falcon. In 1981 Dick Johnson and codriver John French won the Bathurst 1000 endurance touring car race in an XD Falcon. A family saloon with race winning pedigree which is why us Aussies love these boxy old Falcons.

Well done Jesse on the ESP paint scheme, you nailed it.

Cheers,

David. 😎👍🇭🇲0b83afc5e1b291ba9b3492978c2795ef.jpg.32a49d7afbe36303b9b116b2e86eec21.jpgjohnson-bathurst-1981.jpg.ebe239b3a97ef4da2bddbaef84e39d98.jpg

That is really impressive Jesse!  I have some Aussie bodies in 3D printing to tackle myself and I expect this was a very challenging build to finish to this standard. David's photos prove how well you captured the original car.

Cheers

Alan
