Tootgarook: Alma St and Field St Footpath Construction

Stage 1

As part of the Pedestrian Access Strategy, it was determined that the construction of a footpath along Alma Street and Field Street is necessary.

This footpath will serve as a vital east-west connection within the pedestrian network of Rye and Tootgarook. It will provide numerous households with access to the Truemans Road Recreation Reserve, Tootgarook Wetlands, and the Rye commercial strip.

Stage 1 of this project is now complete. 

Stage 2

We are now moving forward with Stage 2 of the project, which will involve the following scope of works:

  • Construction of a 2-metre-wide concrete footpath from Marshall Street to Truemans Road.
  • Installation of pram crossings.
  • Installation of splitter islands.

A pre-commencement meeting was held with the head contractor and construction works have commenced with completion expected in June 2024.
