Sega's been hosting a community event of sorts this week, trying to get fans of the upcoming Sonic game Project Needlemouse (tenative title) to guess which characters would be included out of a long list. We briefly considered it was all a hoax by the company to pull one over on us, but not with much faith. As it turns out, that is the case. Look up!
For awhile there, we'd written off the game. Going back to the roots? Pfft. Looks like this is exactly what Sega was going for, though, so nice job, fellas.
While personally we'd like to see Tails and perhaps Knuckles in the game, even if not as playable characters, it appeared majority rule was for Sonic and only Sonic. No great complaints, here, anyway.
With hopes the title turns out great, we present you the first piece of concept art, which displays a promising new direction:
it would be nice if like sonic 3 you could choose sonic, sonic and tails, or just tails, even if you had to unlock tails by completing it with sonic alone first or something, all the emeralds... OOHH i hope the emeralds are just sitting about like in the master system games! they were the best ones
Then robots armed with saw blades and spikes etc again. The recent ones were completely unthreatening and bland.
Would have been nice to see Metallyx in it though. He was like Sonic only without the "cool" (i.e. Annoying) voice and speech. And with extra abilities due to being a robot.
