What goes around, comes around – especially if you’re a shoe-thrower.
The Iraqi journalist who hurled a shoe at President Bush a year ago found himself on the receiving end of a clophopper Tuesday.
A man who claimed to be an exiled Iraqi journalist tossed the missile at the head of TV reporter Muntazer al-Zaidi at a publicity event in Paris.
Al-Zaidi – who became a folk hero after his attack on Bush to protest the U.S. war in Iraq – easily dodged the shoe and was unhurt.
“Here’s another shoe for you!” al-Zaidi’s foe shouted before throwing the footwear during a rant in Arabic defending U.S. policy in Iraq.
He was wrestled down by Zaidi’s brother who slapped him during a brief struggle.
Al-Zaidi, who spent nine months in prison for his assault on Bush, criticized the new shoe-tosser.
“When I used this method, it was against the occupation. I did not use it against a compatriot,” he complained.
