Time flies when you’re having fun.

But starting in August, freshmen at Queens College of the City University of New York will have extra help finishing their undergraduate degrees in four years.

A new program called QC in 4 gives undergrads access to academic advisers and guarantees seats in classes needed to finish in four years. In return, students agree to earn 30 credits a year and to enroll in at least 15 semester credit hours for fall 2017.

Queens College President Félix V. Matos Rodríguez said he expects many of the 1,500 incoming freshmen will sign up for the voluntary arrangement.

“Our graduates lose no time in achieving success, and so we expect that a great number of our incoming freshmen will want to take advantage,” said Matos Rodríguez.

Currently, 30% of Queens College students earn their bachelor’s degrees within four years. After six years, 60% have their degrees. The college now enrolls roughly 19,000 students.

CUNY officials said nine out of 10 of those who graduate from Queens College in four years emerge debt-free from costs associated with college.

The push for CUNY students to complete their degrees in four years also has support from CUNY Chancellor James B. Milliken, who called for more CUNY students to earn 30 credits each year in February.
