Andy Richter and his wife, Sarah Thyre, have announced that they are divorcing.
Richter is best known as Conan O’Brien’s sidekick on all three of his late night TV shows and Thyre is known for her role as Coach Cherri Wolf on the show “Strangers with Candy.”
Richter, 52, and Thyre, 50, married in 1996, but had been together for more than 27 years.
“It is with sadness that Sarah and I announce that we have separated and have begun divorce proceedings,” Richter wrote in a statement. “We are extremely proud of the life we’ve built together and shared with so many friends over the years, and even though our marriage has reached its completion we will always maintain a loving friendship and parenting partnership.”
Thyre said she and Richter have two “fabulous kids” named William and Mercy they will continue to parent together.
Richter later tweeted to thank people for “the amount of love and support” he’s been shown since the announcement. He said it is “truly a gift and so, so meaningful to me. I feel very loved.”
