Portrait of Zixu Wang

Zixu Wang

I cover news and features about China across a broad range of topics, including gender, demography and social issues. I have reported on the impact of China’s falling birth rates and demographic crisis on society, politics and the economy.

I joined The Times in 2022. I have worked at American, Chinese and Hong Kong media since I started my career in journalism in 2018 as an intern at Ren Wu, a magazine in Beijing.

Before diving into journalism, I completed a Bachelor of Laws in China and an LL.M. in international human rights at the University of Notre Dame. Born and raised in China, I speak Mandarin, Cantonese and Southwestern Guanhua.

All Times journalists are committed to upholding the standards of integrity outlined in our Ethical Journalism Handbook. This means I strive to be accurate and fair in my reporting and writing. I seek to avoid oversimplifying China as a monolithic unity or reinforcing stereotypes of the people I interview.
