• Nicole Kidman and her husband, country singer Keith Urban, have been married since 2006.
  • Kidman and Urban's daughters, Sunday Rose, 10, and Faith Margaret, 8, happen to appear as extras in Big Little Lies season two.
  • And this month, Urban is set to perform at the 2019 CMT Awards on June 5. Let's revisit how these two built a family together.

Nicole Kidman recently shared an Instagram video of her husband Keith Urban playing a cover of Elton John's "Your Song," with Kidman providing backup vocals and adorable asides. It's just the latest of many tributes the two have paid to each other and their relationship—on social media, on songs, and on the record—in the years since they (quickly) quickly got married in 2006.

Their evident joy in each other's company, plus their honesty about the rough periods they've helped each other through, are the reasons why we wish Kidman and Urban approximately 100 more years of happiness together.

"[Meeting Nicole] and getting married wasn't life-changing, it was life-beginning," Urban told CBS News in May 2016. "It was literally, like, 'OK, life starts.'"

For that reason, we're revisiting how Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban met and fell in love—and if their quotes about each other give you full-on emotional Keith cry-face, well, we don't blame you one bit.

The future power couple first met at the 2005 G'Day USA gala (the organization is "Australia’s premier public and economic diplomacy program in the United States," according to their website). To hear Kidman tell it, it was a classic tale of girl-meets-boy, but boy isn't into girl right away. Urban begs to differ.

"I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn't interested in me," Kidman told Ellen DeGeneres in 2017. "It's true! He didn't call me for four months."

It was actually a lack of confidence, not disinterest, that held Urban back, he says.

"Somebody had given me her number and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it thinking, 'If I call this number, she's going to answer. I don't know what [to] say'," the singer said in 2018 on the Australian talk show Interview.

"I wasn’t in a very healthy place in my life," he continued. "I'd never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me. But at some point I plucked up the courage to call those numbers and she answered, and we started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless."

On their 10th wedding anniversary, Urban shared photo evidence of that fateful night (above), taken "within minutes of meeting each other."

2006: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban get married.

Once they did start dating, Kidman was pretty much in it to win it: She knew she wanted to marry him after less than six months. The Oscar-winner told People that the revelation hit her on the morning of her 38th birthday, when Urban showed up at her door with flowers and whisked her away on a trip to Woodstock, New York.

"I believed by that point he was the love of my life," Kidman said. "Maybe that’s because I am deeply romantic, or I’m an actress, or I have strong faith as well, but I just believed, ‘Oh, okay, here he is.'"

The two wed soon after on June 25, 2006, at a church in the northern Sydney suburb of Manly, Australia. Russell Crowe, Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann, and Kidman's best friend Naomi Watts were among the 230+ guests in attendance, and Hugh Jackman and Crowded House vocalist Neil Finn performed (Urban serenaded his bride, too).

As blissful as their nuptials were, the two faced their first major challenge just months later. Urban, who has spoken openly about his past cocaine, MDMA, and alcohol abuse and subsequent recovery journey, already had two rehab stays behind him when Kidman staged an intervention in 2006. He sought treatment in October 2006, spending three months of their first year of marriage in an in-patient facility.

"I caused the implosion of my fresh marriage," Urban admitted to Rolling Stone in 2016. “It survived, but it’s a miracle it did. I was spiritually awoken with her. I use the expression ‘I was born into her,’ and that’s how I feel. And for the first time in my life, I could shake off the shackles of addiction.”

In 2006, Urban captured his feelings about Kidman and their relationship in the song "Got It Right This Time" from his album Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing. The lyrics' meaning couldn't be clearer: "She believes in me like I've been trying to do, I'm seeing things I've never seen before / Ever since she came into my life, I've been a better man..."

Reflecting on their meeting a year after the intervention, Nicole told Vanity Fair in 2007, "I would probably say that two very lonely people managed to meet at a time when they could open themselves to each other. We were a mixture of frightened and brave.”

2008: Kidman and Urban welcome their first daughter.

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban was born in Nashville on July 7, 2008. Sunday was the third child for Kidman, who adopted two previous children—Isabella, 26, and son Conner, 24—with first husband Tom Cruise after they experienced two miscarriages.

Their firstborn (known as "Sunny" to her family) was named after Australian art patron and muse Sunday Reed, according to People, and Urban's grandmother Rose.

Kidman shared a rare baby photo of their daughter on her 10th birthday in July 2018, writing, "You are our joy Sunday Rose."

2011: Kidman and Urban's second daughter is born via surrogate.

Faith Margaret Kidman Urban was born in Nashville like her big sister—and though she's their biological child, the couple chose a gestational carrier for baby number two.

"Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret," the couple announced in a 2011 statement, which also thanked their daughter's carrier.

Kidman, who experienced fertility issues prior to and during her marriage to Urban, opened up to Vogue in 2015 about her wish that they'd be able to have an even bigger family.

"I wish I could have met [Keith] much earlier and had way more children with him, but I didn't," the actress said of meeting in their late 30s. "I mean, if I could have had two more children with him, that would have been just glorious."

Despite their penchant for extremely public expressions of love for each other, Kidman and Urban take a much more private approach when it comes to their kids. But Big Little Lies fans can catch a glimpse of Sunday and Faith on-screen in season two.

"They were in as extras in Big Little Lies, which I've never told anyone. There I am now being a big mouth," she revealed to Ellen DeGeneres in October 2018.

2019: Kidman shares a secret to her happy marriage.

"The greatest thing our family priest told us very early on in our marriage was, 'Always kiss hello and kiss goodbye'," Kidman told InStyle. It just keeps you connected."
