Our native marsupial, the Virginia opossum, might not be the most handsome of species, but it’s not nearly as despicable as many make it out to be.

It is surprising to me how pleased I am that Percy lives on.

Percy, you see, is the primary marsupial of the manor, our porch ‘possum. A few days ago, a ‘possum bit the bullet on the roadway near the corner of the yard. I assumed Percy had waddled into the path of a passing vehicle and achieved the destiny of a high percentage of those resourceful but somewhat oblivious mammals.
