About Penny - 3 Year Old Shih Tzu cross
We would like to introduce Penny, a 3 year old Shih Tzu cross.
Penny came into foster care with her brother after being left at a boarding kennel and was failed to be picked up.
She is a wee little girl but don’t let that deceive you. Her personality and determination equal a dog much larger than she is. She goes everywhere fast. She has no half measures. She likes to know what is happening at all times. And if she doesn’t agree, she is quick to let her foster brothers know.
As Penny came with a brother, she has always been used to having other dogs around her. She is constantly wanting to play and will play for hours with a doggy companion. Her 12 year old foster brother tries to keep up but has never slept so well until Penny came along.
She does like her food but is scared of her food bowl being placed down for her. Her history before coming into care is uncertain.
However, she is not a lap dog. She does not want to sit still for too long. If bored, she will look for things to do, including finding old socks from places we didn’t know existed. She loves her toys and is a bit of a chewer. She has also dug a small hole in the garden when she smelt something intriguing. This was a once off and when not being actively entertained.
Penny is an incredibly loving, snuggly girl when she wants to be. She is happy to be picked up and will sleep on your bed. She is toilet trained but needs to taken outside regularly just to remind her. She is not an outside dog.
Penny would be best suited for a family with older children or a couple. She will need to be involved in everyday life and be engaged in the activities of the family. She is not the dog for you if you want her to sit with you all day. She may also not be best suited to young children who may be tempted to pick her up and inadvertently hurt her in doing so. She could become upset and react and no one wants this.
Penny would probably love another little doggy friend to play with but would require a meet and greet.
Penny is in foster care in Charlestown, NSW. Her adoption fee is $700.
