The former Miss Universe is proud to be a single mum
Laura Csortan couldn’t be more excited to be joining the “club” of famous single mums, like Fifi Box and Charlize Theron, raising their children on their own.
The former Miss Universe Australia and travel presenter is expecting to spend her 40th birthday in a maternity ward – her due date is three days after her birthday on November 9 – and she has bravely decided to bring up her child alone.
She and the baby’s father had parted ways before Laura found out she was expecting.
“We’re still in touch, but he’s very private and doesn’t want to be involved,” she explains. “He respects it’s my decision, and when the baby’s older I’m happy with her finding out who her father is. I’m going into this with an open mind.” In the meantime, Laura is focusing on coping with “brutal”bru morning sickness and prep preparing to meet her “miracle” baby baby, who she is convinced is goin going to be a little girl.

“It’s exciting. It was unexpected but I’m very happy about it,” say says the TV presenter. ““I’ve always wanted kids, I’ve alw always been very maternal,” sh she adds, revealing it was just aca case of working out when to pu put the brakes on her career. “No time is ever going to be th the right time to have a baby, certainlyce not in my life. It’s a huge change for me because I’veI’ never really had my feet firmlyfi planted – my life has beenb one big travel show.”
Setting up a permanent base in Sydney and being close to her family has been important for Laura, who has also been enjoying watching her body change.
“I didn’t know how I would feel about that, but I’m really loving it,” she reveals.
“I’m watching my belly get bigger, my bum get bigger and my boobs get bigger, and I’m just embracing it! I have never felt so womanly.”
While the future holds challenges, Laura can’t stop smiling. “I’m not kidding myself it’s going to be easy. It’s probably going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done – but it’s certainly going to be the most rewarding as well,” she says.
