QuadStick FPS game controller

QuadStick FPS game controller

from $549.00

The QuadStick FPS is a PS3, PS4 and Nintendo Switch compatible USB game controller (see below for other consoles). It uses a larger and more rugged joystick module than the original model QuadStick. The FPS joystick offers greater accuracy and a more precise center position, compared to the Original model.

Optional features are multi-user (+$25) vs single-user, and a Bluetooth module (+$100) that can be used with a PC, Mac, iOS, or Android device. The optional Bluetooth module can function as a generic gamepad, mouse & keyboard, or as a serial connection for relaying voice commands.

Other choices when ordering are centering spring strength, input/output mode selection for one of the rear 3.5 mm jacks, mouthpiece style and size, and the initial configuration at power up.

See below for a longer discussion of the various options.

The QuadStick comes with two mouthpieces and a USB cable. A mounting arm, sold separately, is needed to hold the Quadstick.

Multi-user vs Single-user:

The Multi-user version includes hydrophobic syringe filters (a total of eight) and a second side tube assembly for $25 extra. The filters are placed between the female Luer fittings on the body of the Quadstick and the plastic tubes that connect to the mouthpieces.

Bluetooth module:

Bluetooth module can function as a generic gamepad, mouse & keyboard, or as a serial connection for relaying voice commands. It will connect to Windows PCs or Macs, iOS and Android devices. It will not connect to a game console or other type of Bluetooth device.

An alternative to the Bluetooth module’s serial connection is to use a USB serial adapter with the IN jack.

The Bluetooth module is not required for most users. Historically only about 15% of users have used it. The parts are in very limited supply which is why it is now optional.

Centering spring tension:

Strong springs:

  • The Quadstick can be used in any position.

  • The 60-70 grams of force required to move the joystick may be tiring for users with limited lip muscle strength.

Light springs:

  • The Quadstick must be positioned within 45 degrees of upright for the mouthpiece to return to center by itself.

  • When placed on the left or right side, the mouthpiece will droop on the X-axis.

  • The 25 grams of force required to move the joystick is very similar to the Original model and is more suitable for users with limited lip muscle strength.

Inputs/Outputs options for top jack:

  • There are three jacks on the back of the Quadstick. The bottom jack provides two switch inputs. The center jack connects to the Lip sensor. The top jack can be ordered as either two switch inputs or two relay outputs.

  • If you would like to use the Quadstick WITH adaptive switches, the Inputs option would give you two more inputs for a total of four switch inputs and zero relay outputs.

  • If you would like to use the Quadstick AS an adaptive switch with other devices that work with them, then the Outputs option would give you two relays outputs and two switch inputs.

  • More details can be found here.

Mouthpiece size and style:

The QuadStick comes with two mouthpieces.

The mouthpieces come in two sizes: Narrow - 26 mm, and wide - 36 mm. The size refers to the spacing between the two outer holes of the main three holes. Wide mouthpieces are easier to isolate different hole combinations, for those with sufficient neck movement. It is easier for a user with limited neck movement to reach all the holes of the narrow mouthpiece.

Three hole mouthpieces are used with a separate side tube. Four hole mouthpiece incorporate the side tube into the mouthpiece. The side tube is typically used to control the mode of the Quadstick, but that be changed by the user.

Neck movement is required to use the four hole mouthpiece.

Connecting to hosts:

The Quadstick connects directly to the PS4, PS3, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mac computers. A PS5 or XBox console requires an adapter. The recommended adapter for the XBox One is the Brook Wingman XB. The recommended adapter for the PS5 is the Console Tuner Titan Two. The Titan Two can be used with any console.

A list of all the ways a Quadstick can be connected to consoles and PCs can be found here.

Mounting:

The QuadStick mounts using the 1" Size B RAM Mount system. Select one of the mounting kit options to make a complete system or see the mounting kit descriptions for the parts lists and sources to assemble your own mount.
