Allen's Tubelip Wrasse

Labropsis Wrasse should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of swim room. Plenty of rock work with overhangs, caves, cracks and crevices for hiding and grazing. Labropsis Wrasse will also need a deep sand bed. Although Labropsis Wrasse are considered peaceful they will pick at stony polyp corals, crustaceans, small marine fish and clam mantles. A diet of meaty foods should be provided to supplement Labropsis Wrasse diets. Juveniles, males and females will only exhibit slightly color differences. Wrasse are hermaphrodites meaning they start as juveniles/females but at some point in their life may turn into a male. Wrasse will jump an aquarium with a tight fitting lid should be provided. House with other peaceful tank mates.

The Allen's Tubelip Wrasse are sometimes also known simply as the Allen's Wrasse. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Females and males may have different coloration. Females generally are a brown to orange yellow color that may turn pink to white at the base of the the tail and a green belly. Males are mainly a light green to yellow color with a purple head, a pale yellow tail and a light purple colored chest and belly. Allen's Tubelip Wrasse can grow to a little over 4".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 75 gallons or larger for this species.
