Glass House Mountains
This series of steep sided volcanic plugs dominate the landscape of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and are a popular area for bushwalking. Named the Glasshouse Mountains by Captain Cook for their resemblance to the huge glass furnaces (or glasshouses) of his native Yorkshire. The whole of the Hinterland area is known for its relaxing, natural atmosphere amid the cool, green rainforests and dazzling views from the mountain lookouts.
