Welcome to an unforgettable journey through the natural wonders of the UNESCO World Heritage Rainforest and the Atherton Tablelands! Our day begins with a scenic drive up the mountain, treating you to breathtaking vistas of the Gillies Range from a picturesque lookout.

Our first enchanting stop is the renowned Lake Barrine Tea House, a delightful establishment with a 90-year legacy. Here, amid serene lake views, we indulge in a delightful Devonshire Tea experience. Savor locally sourced tea and coffee, accompanied by scones made from a closely guarded fourth-generation recipe, topped with heavenly cream and jam from nearby producers.

After this delectable pause, we embark on a leisurely stroll through the Wet Tropics World Heritage-listed tropical rainforest. Following an easy trail to a captivating boardwalk, we encounter the awe-inspiring Bull Kauri Pines, affectionately known as the 'lovers' and 'twin' trees. These ancient giants, standing tall at 45 meters with trunks over 6 meters in girth, are believed to have witnessed over a millennium of history.

Our journey continues with an immersive cultural experience as we meet with a local indigenous tribe. Discover the rich tapestry of Dreamtime stories, Rainforest tucker, traditional medicines, and tools reflecting a sustainable ancient culture deeply connected to the land.

Refreshed and enlightened, we move to the tranquil blue waters of a volcanic crater lake for a refreshing swim. Glide along the serene surface, keeping an eye out for playful turtles and darting fish, amidst the UNESCO World Heritage-listed rainforest backdrop.

A sumptuous lunch awaits us with a panoramic view nestled within this ancient rainforest sanctuary, providing a fitting culmination to our morning adventures.

Our exploration unfolds further as we visit the iconic Curtain Fig Tree, an imposing strangler fig that has stood for over five centuries, adorned with curtains of aerial roots cascading from its branches—a true marvel of nature's resilience and creativity.

As our day draws to a close, we embark on a wildlife river walk, tracing a path inhabited by possums, tree kangaroos, and the elusive platypus. It's a chance to glimpse these creatures in their natural habitat, as they prepare for their nocturnal activities.

With hearts full of wonder and memories etched in our minds, we descend the mountain range back to Cairns, reflecting on a day filled with natural beauty, cultural richness, and wildlife encounters that define the essence of the Atherton Tablelands..
