1973 Ford XA GT Replica Hardtop

This 1973 Ford XA Fairmont Hard top has been neatly restored as a GT Replica. These hard top Falcons and Fairmonts are Aussie muscle cars with a cult following. The original owner of this car purchased it in Feb, 1973 and owned the car right up until approx. 2008. Towards the end of the original owner’s tenure, he decided to convert the Fairmont from a 6cyl to a 351ci V8. He purchased a Falcon GXL and took the 351ci V8, Top Loader 4 speed manual transmission and 9 inch diff out of the car and swapped them into the coupe. This transformed the car from a nice cruiser into a legitimate muscle car. The engine and transmission were both refurbished by the owner prior to going into the coupe.
While the car was apart, it received a colour change to Wild Voilet, one of the most iconic Ford Muscle car colours. The current owner has taken the next step and converted it to a GT replica adding GT black outs to the bonnet, tail panel and lowers. The front end received fluted guards and a fluted GT bonnet. All of the chrome on the car as well as the lights are original items and not reproductions. Likewise the Glass is original to the car.
Inside the Parchment trim is believed to be mostly factory. There is a GS dash and all of the gauges have been calibrated and refurbished. An aftermarket stereo gives the car some tunes to listen to when you are out cruising. Creature comforts include power steering and four-wheel power assisted disc brakes. The car was fitted with air conditioning from the factory which was removed at some stage but refitted recently using an aftermarket compressor.
Other recent work to the car includes a full brake service, lowered springs all round and a new set of 17” Globe style wheels with new tyres. The car been previously fully licenced in both WA and QLD with the current running gear.
