A Look Back at Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban’s Romance Over The Years

You can look all over Hollywood and beyond, but you won’t find many couples as heartwarming as Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. These days, they make fans swoon routinely — whether they’re whispering sweet nothings into each other’s ears on the red carpet or, more recently, entertaining the world during quarantine by sharing wildly endearing videos of Kidman fangirling over her musician husband. Since getting hitched (quickly!) in 2006, Kidman and Urban have become one of the most inspiring celebrity pairs in Hollywood romance history.

But their relationship wasn’t always a study in perfection. The two have weathered their fair share of storms along the way. From Urban’s struggle with addiction to rumors of infidelity, Kidman and Urban have had to work their way through PR nightmares that would have done lesser couples in. However, it’s their willingness to talk about those rough patches and work through them that keeps them situated firmly at the top of our “relationship goals” list. What makes Kidman and Urban’s story even more special is that it was almost a non-starter — she assumed nothing would come of it because he took so long to call her after they first met

“I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me,” she told Ellen DeGeneres in 2017 of meeting Urban in 2005. “It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months.” In Urban’s defense, though, he was adorably nervous. “Somebody had given me her number and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it thinking, ‘If I call this number, she’s going to answer. I don’t know what to say,’” the singer shared on the Australian talk show Interview in 2018.

So, in celebration of the fact that Urban finally did pick up the phone (and all the beautiful moments they’ve created together since) let’s take a look back at Kidman and Urban’s relationship from the beginning.
